Are you …

Ready to strengthen and support your voice as a singer?

Preparing for an audition or a gig?

Returning to singing after a long time and wanting to enjoy it again?

Experiencing vocal changes related to health, aging, or gender affirming transition?

I offer voice and performance coaching in person and online for beginning and intermediate singers ages 12-112. My approach is informed by individual attention and deep listening, prioritizing your goals and collaborating with you to reach them using the tools that fit your practice.

Voice lessons are 60 minutes long, and can take place online or in person (in Chicago). My rates are tiered as follows (h/t to my friend Eli Conley for this model):

At Cost: $75

This is the true cost of private lessons, and the rate I need most people to pay in order to cover my costs and pay myself a living wage. Consider paying this amount if doing so would be an investment, but not create hardship for your household. (You might choose this rate if you are able to regularly meet your basic needs and have some expendable income, can travel every 2 – 3 years without burden, and have some debt but are able to pay it regularly.)

A Little More: $90

This is a pay-it-forward rate. The extra money sustains me in working with lower income folks who would not otherwise be able to access private lessons. (Please consider paying this amount if you are comfortably able to meet your basic needs, own the home you live in or rent a higher end property, have paid or pay for private education, travel recreationally, have access to financial savings and/or investments, have reliable work or do not have to work to meet your needs, have inherited wealth, and/or have increased earning privilege due to your race, gender, or education.)

A Little Less: $50

This is a discounted rate. (Consider paying this amount if you have significant debt, little or no savings, and little or no access to financial support from family.)

How

Some of the tools and practices I use include: somatic awareness, improvisation, breathwork, and movement. They apply to a range of styles and forms, including jazz, classical, folk, musical theater, and pop. My own practice as a performer is an ongoing cross-genre experiment, and I welcome students who are interested exploring this territory as well as those who feel committed to a style that they feel suits them best.

What

I am happy to help you prepare for an audition, try out a new karaoke song, practice and develop new material, or work through problems that are preventing you from singing the way you want to sing. Although I can’t diagnose or treat vocal health issues that require medical intervention, I can refer you to trusted specialists and recommend practices to develop your vocal health on your journey.
